Take healing into your own hands with self Reiki

It is my personal mission to share Reiki, a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing, with as many people as possible so that we can all heal ourselves and each other. But when people hear the word "Reiki," they often assume it’s some kind of mysterious, difficult practice reserved for the masters, gurus, and spiritually enlightened. (I’ll let you know when I develop the ability to levitate, but for now I’m mostly a pretty normal mom of teenagers who still likes to watch Marvel movies sometimes.)  The idea that Reiki is exclusive and elusive couldn't be further from the truth.

Reiki is accessible to anyone with an open mind and a willingness to learn. You don't need to be a master or have special powers to practice Reiki, especially on yourself. Technically, you don’t even need to spend money on classes or books.  And combining weekly sessions with a Reiki practitioner with frequent self Reiki sessions can boost healing into the stratosphere.  I’ve seen it.  I have stories!  It really is the ideal approach to healing.

What’s in it for you?

By regularly practicing self Reiki, you can reduce stress, significantly enhance relaxation, and get closer to achieving emotional balance.

Self Reiki promotes physical healing by boosting the body’s natural healing processes and often greatly reduces pain, especially with repetition.

When given at bedtime, it’s absolutely fantastic for improving sleep issues, including falling asleep, staying asleep, and getting deeper REM state sleep.

A lot of folks end up getting information from their body and subconscious during self-Reiki sessions, similar to the types of insights that come up during meditation.

Even YOU have time for self-Reiki.

One of the most convenient aspects of self Reiki is its flexibility; sessions can be as short as 10 minutes or as long as you desire. You can easily fit self Reiki into your daily routine, whether you are at your desk, in your car, lounging on the couch, or lying in bed.   You can literally watch TV or a kid’s soccer match and give self-Reiki!  This adaptability makes self Reiki a practical and accessible tool, no matter how busy your schedule might be.

Ways to Learn Reiki:

Traditional In-Person Classes

One of the most common ways to learn Reiki is through traditional in-person classes. These are often led by experienced Reiki masters who guide students through the levels of Reiki, from beginner (Level 1) to advanced (Level 3 or Master level). These classes offer hands-on experience and personalized guidance.  I’m working on developing in-person classes down the line- stay tuned.

Online Courses

For those who cannot attend in-person classes, online courses offer a flexible alternative. Websites like LearnReiki.org provide comprehensive online Reiki training. These courses are designed to be accessible and user-friendly, allowing students to learn at their own pace from the comfort of their homes.  Reiki 1 is the only class required to learn self Reiki, and can cost as little as $100.

Books and Self Study

Numerous books and online resources are available for those who prefer self-study. While this method may not provide the hands-on experience of a class, it offers valuable insights and foundational knowledge.  I recommend Self Healing with Reiki by Penelope Quest.

Attunement Services

As a Reiki practitioner myself, I can attune individuals to Reiki for personal use. Attunement is a process where a Reiki master transfers the ability to channel Reiki energy to the student.  Schedule a session or contact me to discuss the process of attunement, which can be completed over the course of one in-person and three online sessions over a two to four day period.  I charge $50 for attunement when combined with a regular Reiki session, and I’ll give you a neat little handout that offers suggested hand positions.

Is it okay to receive sessions from a Reiki practitioner and never learn self Reiki?  Of course it is! Most of my clients never learn self Reiki, and still see significant benefits over the course of our sessions together.  But if you’re looking for a little upgrade and are willing to go just a short extra mile to heal yourself, you might consider taking the first step toward self Reiki.
