Healing and Spiritual Fairs: A Beginner’s Guide
Healing, psychic, spiritual, and wellness fairs are vibrant gatherings where seekers come together to explore the mysteries of the mind, body, and spirit. Never been to a spiritual fair? Don’t even know how to find one? Honey, I gotchu. Let me tell you more about these fun, inspiring events, and how Reiki fits into this bustling atmosphere.
First, these fairs are often held at convention centers, event centers, or large hotels, and typically have a wide variety of offerings, including things to eat, buy, and experience. Imagine wandering through rows of beautiful stalls brimming with alternative wellness offerings like yoga supplies, crystals and candles, pendulums and tarot cards, and original artwork. Picture yourself partaking in a Reiki session, massage, aura reading, tarot card reading, or other intuitive energy healing session. Drink delicious herbal tea, enjoy healthful treats, and just soak up the positive energy.
You can also explore free and paid workshops and lectures covering topics ranging from meditation techniques to herbal remedies, and so. much. more. I’ve been to many spiritual fairs, and feel like I’ve kind of “seen it all”. Still, I always come away from these weekend events with something new that I’m excited about. I often end up bursting into the next week ready to try new techniques and learn even more. Honestly, the possibilities at a spiritual fair are as boundless as the imagination, and are guided by what you choose to be open to that day.
So, let’s say you do decide to take the plunge and sign up for a Reiki or other healing session at a spiritual fair. (Good for you- you deserve it!) What’s that even like? What are the differences between a public healing session at a fair, and a private session in an office?
In a traditional private Reiki session, you might find yourself comfortably reclined on a massage table, surrounded by soothing ambiance and gentle music. A single practitioner guides the session, laying their hands on or above your body to facilitate the flow of healing energy.
In a public Reiki session, the setup may vary. Instead of a massage table, you might settle into a cozy massage chair, allowing for quick and convenient sessions amidst the lively fair environment. You may decide to leave your shoes on or off. To further enhance your journey, some fairs provide noise-canceling headphones, creating a sanctuary of tranquility amidst the bustling crowds. With distractions minimized, you can fully immerse yourself in the healing energies, surrendering to the blissful embrace of Reiki.
And public Reiki sessions often offer a unique twist: the possibility of multiple practitioners working on you simultaneously, depending on availability. It’s hard to describe, but something pretty special happens when two or more healers place their hands on/above you, each contributing their unique vibrations to the experience. It's a symphony of healing, amplifying the benefits and intensity of the session.
Another possible perk of spiritual fair Reiki sessions is flexibility in pricing and session duration. Unlike traditional 60-90 minute private sessions, fairs often offer shorter sessions at a reduced cost. These abbreviated sessions provide an accessible entry point for newcomers curious about Reiki, allowing them to sample the experience without committing to a full-length session. It's a budget-friendly way to dip your toes into the world of energy healing and discover its transformative potential. And talking with your practitioner before or after the session, time allowing, is a great way to get your questions about Reiki (and lots, and LOTS of other topics) answered.
This all sounds pretty good, right? Okay, let’s goooo!
Grab your reusable shopping bag- we’re headed to the fair!
But first, we need to figure out when and where exactly we’re headed. Honestly, I usually hear about fairs from word of mouth. A friend will text me: “Hey, are you going to the New Age Expo this year?” Or I’ll hear about it through a Facebook or Meetup group I’ve joined. (A great local San Jose/San Francisco choice is “Spiritual and Holistic Bay Area.”)
Another way to find local fairs is literally typing “spiritual fairs near me” into Google. The listings are surprisingly accurate and comprehensive. And then, it’s a pretty low-tech site, but I sometimes use bodymindspiritdirectory.org for lesser advertised fairs, or fairs in more rural areas. Regardless of how you get the 4-1-1, I guarantee you’ll have an interesting day at your next spiritual fair. Let me know how it went in the comments below. 🙂
By the way, if you live in the South Bay Area, please come check out the upcoming SoulSearch Enlightenment Expo, March 16-17, 2024. I’ll be there with my friend and colleague, offering Reiki and chatting up anyone who wants to talk. Look for Note to Self Healing and Food4Thought! Register to attend this free expo here.
With love,
Michelle
