Metaphysics 101: A Reading List
Curious about the Universe and your place in it? Looking for a read to delve a little deeper into the questions you have about life? Check out my reading list for inspiration! There’s always more to learn.
Michael Newton, Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives.
I spend a lot of time talking to folks who are new to spirituality, and this is the book I end up recommending most often. It’s a highly engaging read that makes a very convincing attempt to answer one of life’s biggest questions: What happens when we die? Michael Newton is a clinical therapist who has gathered thousands of hours of information from clients who’ve repeated the same themes over and over during their hypnosis sessions.
Carol Bowman, Children’s Past Lives: How Past Life Memories Affect Your Child.
This one is just a really enjoyable read. I wish I had read it years ago, so when my three-year-old daughter casually said, “I had another Mommy before you,” I could’ve responded differently!
Helen Palmer, The Enneagram in Love and Work: Understanding Your Intimate and Business Relationships.
The Enneagram is a fascinating, famous personality system to help you understand your temperament better. This book is my favorite, because it highlights some of the most important relationships in our lives. Learn more about how to interact with your spouse and co-workers better.
Dolores Cannon, The Convoluted Universe: Book One.
In the words of The Oracle from The Matrix, this one will really bake your noodle! Ready to dive waaaay deep into the meaning of life and our universe? Cannon is a hypnotherapist who, like Newton, has collected information from hundreds of clients under hypnosis with the intention of regression. This is a long one- I recommend the audio book!
Esther and Jerry Hicks, The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham.
This book is considered by many to be a classic. Remember when Oprah (and everyone) was really into The Secret? The popular documentary The Secret is about the law of attraction, and introduced the world to Esther Hicks. Esther and her late husband Jerry have written many books on how to use manifestation and the Law of Attraction to bring what you want into your life. Honestly, I don’t love the commercial vibe these folks give off; I kind of feel like they’re trying to sell me something! That being said, the principles described in the book are solid and oft-repeated by many trustworthy sources. See what you think for yourself.
Goldschneider and Elffers, The Secret Language of Birthdays: Your Complete Personology Guide for Each Day of the Year.
This huge volume works great as a coffee table book. It has been a conversation starter for me with many a family member and friend. Watch their faces as they read the two-page spread for their specific birthday and find themselves feeling very “seen”. It’s so much fun! And check out your own birthdate. Even though this was more of a “fun” purchase for me, I made some very important connections in reading this book that continue to impact how I interact with people and my day.
There’s a few to get you started! I have many more. Book a session with me in person in San Jose’s Almaden Valley, or remotely, and we’ll have our own little book club. Read any of these books? Let me know what you think in the comments!
Love,
Michelle
